Betty Ann Bjornstrom's Obituary
Betty Ann Schuitema was born to Joseph Schuitema and Anna Hamm on June 3, 1927. She grew up with her five sisters and two brothers in a two bedroom house on Getty St. in Muskegon. She met her husband, F Wayne Hosmer of Ravenna, while working with his sister at Neisner’s Department Store. They wed on November 14, 1947, at East Muskegon Christian Reformed Church.
Wayne and Betty had four children; Wayne Robert (Dalene Duncan),Vicki Lynn Gundy (Edward), Randall Ray, and Sue Ellen Rusch (Paul). The Hosmers were often found camping at Hardy Dam and attending sports events. Betty earned her high school diploma taking night classes from Muskegon High School in 1972. She worked for Dr. Williams and Koinonia Medical Center for many years. Wayne passed in November of 1978.
Betty married Gerald Bjornstrom on February 15, 1980 at Hope Reformed Church. They enjoyed traveling together and weekly breakfasts with his siblings. Gerald passed on May 19, 1999.
Betty loved to knit, play games, golf, and sit by Lake Michigan and watch the waves. She attended Forest Home Reformed Church, Hope Reformed Church where she served as a Deacon, and Unity Reformed Church. She loved singing in the choir at each church.
She is survived by her children, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICES for Betty will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100 with Pastor Steve Hyma officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service, from 9:30 – 10:30 AM.
