Betty Lou Cousineau's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Lou Cousineau, 93, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, in Muskegon. She was born August 12, 1930, in Muskegon to Leo and Alberta (Zeedyk) Nichols and was a lifelong resident. She married Edward Cousineau Sr. the love of her life on March 12, 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 12, 1980. She obtained her GED after Ed’s passing, and then went off to Park College in Kansas City, Missouri, where she received her bachelor’s degree with a major in social work (validation therapist) and a minor in religion. She then worked as a social worker for several years in many different capacities until retiring in 1998. She was actively involved in the Community of Christ Church on Ducey St. She was a singer for many years for weddings and funerals. She also worked at various nursing homes with Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. Betty is survived by four children: Daniel (Merri) Cousineau, Edward Cousineau, Jeffrey (Patricia) Cousineau, Sherry (Arnold) Hicks; many grand and great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Catherine Crosby and Leona Baesler and grandson Charles Cousineau. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 13, at 2:00 PM at Community of Christ Church, 2671 Ducey St., Muskegon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, with burial taking place at East Dalton Oakwood Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Cousineau may be made to Community of Christ Church.
