Betty Jane DeForest's Obituary
Betty Jane DeForest, age 92, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022. She was born July 23, 1929 in Muskegon to Edmond and Blanche (Strowbridge) Tyler. On August 28, 1948, she married Floyd DeForest in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2008. Betty worked 25 years as a cashier for Meijer, Inc. prior to her retirement. Betty and Floyd were members of the Mona Lake Boat Club and the Vikings, and they also loved to dance. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking and baking. SURVIVORS include 2 sons: David (Mary) DeForest and Kevin ( Debra) DeForest; 7 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Ann DeForest; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Kyle DeForest; 2 sisters: Sue Booker and Virginia Culligan. Services for Betty will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Mona View Cemetery. MEMORIALS to the Parkinson’s Foundation will be appreciated.
