Betty J. Gonyon-Shunk's Obituary
Betty J. Gonyon-Shunk, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Mercy Hospital. She was born on April 20, 1940 to Fred and Jennie (McKay) Gonyon in Benzie County, MI. Prior to her retirement in 1990, Betty worked for Howmet as a wax inspector. She was most known for her doll collection, home decorations and antiques. Betty and her dog, Bucky, were the best of friends. On June 21, 1958, she married Jerry Shunk in Muskegon and he survives her along with 3 sons, Jay (Terri) Shunk, Tim (former wife, Kimberly) Shunk and Jeff (Trudy) Shunk; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Carol (Joe) Feldman; sister-in-law, Jackie Pixley and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son, Todd Shunk and nine siblings. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held for Betty 11:00 AM, Monday, July 26, 2021 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 with Pastor Jerry Hagans officiating. VISIATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. MEMORIALS can be directed to the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Muskegon.
