Mrs. Betty Jane Hodge's Obituary
On Sunday July 17, 2022, an angel's work was done on earth. The angel, Betty Hodge was born on June 13, 1928, in Muskegon, Michigan, and left this earth at the age of 94. She was the daughter of Glade and Marguerite Moore. Betty is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Doug), Patricia and Annette, and Brenda Cobb foster daughter; 15 grandchildren; Christopher, Adam, Angela, David, Nichcole, Trevor, Jewels, Thom Jr., David, Sonja, Jennifer, Christina, Jonathan, Timothy, Joshua and many great and great great-grandchildren, She was preceded in death by her four siblings, her daughter Marguerite, great great-grandchild, Autumn and her soulmate and best friend; her husband of 52 years, Donald Hodge and a special life partner Leo Bordeaux. It all started in December of 1945, when Donald Hodge proposed to Betty Moore, and she said yes. From there it was 52 years of a love romance until Donald passed away in 1999. Betty has had many occupations from working in the button factory, cosmetologist, to office manager for Breneman Curtain Roll Company. She also worked with Donald as custodian at McGraft Church and Crestwood United Methodist church which is their home church for all of their life together. Betty retired, however could not stay in place as she knew her calling was to establish a program for delivering layettes that she designed and delivered to young families at the hospital for newborns. She did this with volunteering time at Love, Inc. At Crestwood, she was a Sunday school teacher and taught as well every summer at vacation bible school. If you have known Betty, she is a true example of coming from contribution for her community as well as living an example of unconditional love. She is dancing in heaven with her Lord and the love of her life. The funeral service for Betty will be Tuesday, July 26, at 11:00 AM at Crestwood United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Monday, July 25, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, from 4-7 PM, and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Hodge may be made to the Betty Hodge Trust, and funds will be utilized for future development of the Donald and Betty Hodge Prayer Room, c/o Annette Compo.
