Sincere Condolences. I knew Betty from my parents, Max & Alvena Aley. My dad was a ham & I got my license years ago & he always liked to say that mine was better than his & he was a ham since the late 1920's. Eddie was a ham, too, & the nursing home let him have his rig & antenna right in his room! I know my dad influenced many local hams back in the day! He was a foreman at Am. Coil Spring & knew many people, but Eddie was special to my dad. Max was born in 1912 & he died at age 97 in 2009. We used to go see Betty & Eddie at Brookhaven. Betty was such a nice lady with always a ready smile, but chose to have a separate room from Ed. It frustrated my dad, who was legally blind from wet macular degeneration, & hard of hearing, that Eddie couldn't communicate with him in the end. We tried morse code & it did work for awhile. Those two were in the nursing home together for years. I was reading past obits, as I do not get the Chronicle daily anymore & saw Betty's obit. Betty & Eddie used to visit my parents at their house until health problems prevented them. I also found out in later years that Eddie was childhood friends of my mom's sister's daughter's husband John Gebolys (deceased) & had many stories from the neighborhood. I am sure they had many laughs & good times, especially back in the 50's & 60's...from Denise Aley Meyer
