Betty Louise House's Obituary
Betty Louise House, age 74, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022, at home surrounded by her children. She was born August 26,1948, in Madison Wisconsin. As a toddler, Betty’s family moved to Grand Haven, Michigan where she later married her high school sweetheart Bob House on January 7, 1967. Bob and Betty enjoyed 50 years of marriage until Bob’s death in March of 2017. Betty’s infectious laughter will be missed by all who knew her. She was best described as feisty and fun and brightened up any room with her directness and sense of humor. Even in the end as she was dealing with the pain of cancer, she remained quick witted and sassy as she said her “goodbyes” to loved ones. At a young age, Betty worked at her mother’s dress shop, Homer Hayden’s in downtown Grand Haven. Later in life, she was blessed to work with her husband at H & H enterprises, a company Bob formed in 1983. Betty enjoyed traveling to many states and countries with her husband. She loved to spend time in her garden and worked tirelessly to create a beautiful landscape at her home for all to appreciate. One of her greatest joys was spending time with family and friends at their cabin. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing games, putting together puzzles, and helping with yard work or anything that needed to be done at her children’s homes. She will be greatly missed by her children, daughter Becky (Mike) Piper of Marne; two sons, Brian and Brad House of Grand Haven; her grandchildren whom she loved dearly; her brother, Ron (Linda) Webb, and her friend, Ron Perry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daisy and Albert Webb, brother, Chuck Webb, and sister, Faye Harper. A memorial service for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417, with Rev. Todd Schmidt officiating. Friends may meet the family from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, at The VanZantwick Chapel. Share memories with the family at their online guest book at www.sytsemafh.com.
