Betty "Jean" Prediger's Obituary
(Betty) Jean Prediger, age 93, of Norton Shores, Michigan, died on Friday April 1, 2022. Jean was born in Marissa, Illinois to Carl and Harriett (Evans) Calvert. On August 30, 1947 she married Curtis J. Prediger in Marissa. They celebrated 51 years of marriage. Jean resided in Norton Shores since 1965 and worked at Mona Shores High School from 1965 to 1990, serving the faculty, staff, and students of a place she loved. She was an avid Sailors fan for the rest of her life. Jean was a member of Shores Community Church, another place she loved, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, financial secretary, church clerk, and was active in the children’s ministry and women’s Bible study. For many years Jean volunteered at Hackley Hospital and the Frauenthal Theater. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, games with friends, traveling, and most of all, time with her family. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curt, who died in 1998; son, Don, who died in 2020; her parents; 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and one niece. She is survived by her son, Steve (and Celaine) Bouma-Prediger, Holland, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Crystal Fisher Prediger, Paw Paw, Michigan; five granddaughters, Anna, Chara, Sophia (and Diego), Alexandra, and Kelsey; sister, Jerry (and Ron) Brasel, Kirkwood, Missouri; sister-in-law, Kay Prediger, Iowa City, Iowa; and 5 nephews, 4 nieces, and one great grandson. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 9 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 9 at Shores Community Church, 3800 Lake Harbor Road, Norton Shores 49441. Private family burial will be at Norton Cemetery next to her husband and son.
