Mrs. Betty Karr's Obituary
Betty Houghtaling Karr was born on January 15, 1931 in Battle Creek to Edith and Maurice Houghtaling. She passed away on September 17, 2018. Betty graduated from Muskegon Senior High School in 1949 and Alma College in 1953. She married Clarke Karr in 1955 and lived in Colorado for about 50 years, where she enjoyed skiing, hiking and playing tennis. She returned to Muskegon in 2006. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Noel; and brothers, Jim and Keith Houghtaling. She is survived by her daughter, Nora, of Kyiv, Ukraine; brothers, Dale Houghtaling (Denise), Paul Houghtaling (Carol); her two dear friends, Joanne Bolema and Leona Ludwig; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. At Betty's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Michigan.
