Betty Jean Minzey's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Jean Minzey, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at her home. She was born on August 23, 1943 to Alva and Betty (Larabee) Seelye in Muskegon Heights. A lifelong resident of the area, Betty married Ronald Minzey on August 29, 1964 and they spent 46 wonderful years together before Ron passed away on June 11, 2011. Betty was a member of Beacon Light Community Church and adored her church family. She was very involved with her beloved Widow’s Group at church and loved spending time with the group. She was a mother and homemaker for years, then eventually worked at RAM Electronics. Most of all, Betty loved the time spent and memories created with her family. Betty will always be remembered by her sons, Ronald Minzey Jr (Pam Heath) and Daniel (Marcie) Minzey; four grandchildren, Daniel (Brianna) Minzey Jr, Jonathon (Jackie) Minzey, Bethany (Mike) Westover, and Makala Minzey; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel (Ken) Killebrew, Barb Hoeker, and Ruth (Bud) Clark; two brothers, Earl (Jane) Seelye and Roy Seelye; special friend, Hank Inman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Along with her loving husband, Ron, Betty was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Seelye; sister, Beverly Jean Seelye; and sister-in-law, Ruth Seelye. Dan and Marcie would like to express their gratitude for all the love and support the Susan Mast Foundation for ALS and Harbor Hospice provided Betty. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, July 11 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Visitation will be Monday, July 10 from 2:00 – 4:00PM and 6:00 – 8:00PM at the funeral home, along with one hour prior on Tuesday, from 10:00 – 11:00AM. Memorials in Betty’s memory may be made to the Susan Mast Foundation. Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband at Egelston Twp. Cemetery and a luncheon will be provided following at Beacon Light Community Church, 6031 E. Apple Ave., 49442.
