Betty Geraldine Potter's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Geraldine Potter, age 94, passed from this life into her family’s hearts on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Betty was born in Flint, Michigan on April 14, 1932 to Willard and Ruth (Millie) Wigard. Betty graduated magna cum laude from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Accounting degree. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Mercy Hospital. Betty married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Foster Dixon Potter, Esq., in Davison, Michigan on October 28, 1950. They shared 66 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with four sons: Dan, Tom, Mike, and David. They lived in the Flint area for the first 20 years of their marriage before making their home in the Muskegon area, first on Lake Michigan and later in Norton Shores. Betty enjoyed knitting, antiquing, making world class strawberry jam, and working on crossword puzzles. Above all else, she cherished her family and especially treasured her grandchildren. Betty is survived by three sons, Dan (Cheri) Potter, Mike (Susan) Potter, and David Potter; grandchildren, Jennifer (Damon) McCord, Jason (Tanya) Potter, Miles (Emily Vitranu) Potter, Lindsey (Jack Vinton) Potter, Brandi (Chad) Sherman, Linda (Robert) Taylor; great-grandchildren, Caedan and Kieran McCord, Liam and Rowan Potter, Chase Sherman, Kyli and Kaleb Taylor, Rebekah, Jacob, Jonathan, Colon, Eric and Chloe Tankersley, twins, Brooke and Breanne Chaney, and Henry Potter; brother, Robert (Marie) Wigard; and extended family, Eric and Jena Tankersley, Tracy Tankersley, and Vicki Pomeroy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Foster; parents; son, Thomas Potter; and siblings, Bud Wigard, June Minto, and Vera VanWagoner.
