Betty "Polly" (Mudge) Rice's Obituary
Betty “Polly” (Mudge) Rice, 86, of Muskegon passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024. She was born February 13, 1938, in Harrisburg, MI to George and Lila (Frizzell) Mudge.
Betty worked from 1989-2008 as the Treasurer for the City of Norton Shores and was a member of Anchor Point Church and loved working with children. She also enjoyed gardening, needle point, crocheting and baking cakes for family celebrations, along with her puzzles and playing Bunco with friends. She loved reading her Bible and listening to the Gaithers. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her two daughters, JoAnn (Steven) Roberson, and Julia (Gauntrial) Morris. Betty has five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great greatgrandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Rice; son, David Ryder; four brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in Norton Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Polly may be given to Harbor Hospice Foundation.
