Mrs. Betty Jean Riley's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Jean Riley, age 62, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. She was born December 25, 1949 in Waldo, Arkansas to Harvey and Gurdia Mae (Mack) Alexander and moved to the Muskegon area in 1966. She graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. On July 1, 1972, she married Orlando Riley in Muskegon. Betty worked over 20 years as a cashier for Hackley Hospital. She was a member of Greater Harvest Baptist Church. SURVIVORS include her husband, Orlando; 2 children, Tarina Olivia Riley of Chicago, IL, Orlando O. (Catia) Riley, Jr. of New Bedford, MA; 2 grandchildren, Orlando William Riley III and Savannah Irene Riley; her siblings, Gurdia “Rene” (Haley) Potts of Muskegon, Gloria Jean (Talmadge) Battle of Bridgeport, MI, Harvell (Jackie) Alexander of Norton Shores, Eva M. Alexander of Muskegon Heights; special uncle, Cecil Alexander of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and special aunt, Gwendolyn Alexander. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 4, 2012 at Greater Harvest Baptist Church (2435 Riordan) with Reverend J. Christopher Murry officiating. VISITATION will be held 5-8 PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service, 10-11 AM Friday at the church.
