Mrs. Betty G. Stewart's Obituary
Betty “Baby Gay” Stewart passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the Poppen Residence after a year’s battle with colon cancer. Born in Houston, PA, a true coal miner’s daughter, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Purdue University where she met her future husband, Charles. They celebrated forty-four years of marriage in August. She loved the eight years she worked for a veterinarian in West Lafayette, IN. Betty was an accomplished roller skater winning silver medals in both American and International pairs dance skating. Her interests were Siamese cats, genealogy, bead embroidery, crocheting, needle point, and adult coloring books. Her beading was of extraordinary creativity and beauty. Her sweet personality and adorable smile endeared her to all who knew her. Visitation will be at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100) on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence.
