Betty Jean Thompson's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Jean Thompson, age 79, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. She was born September 6, 1933 in Grand Haven, MI to Steve and Elizabeth (Kandelac) Murar and lived in the Muskegon area most of her life. On July 14, 1951, she married Richard N. Thompson in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on March 14, 1992. Betty was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. SURVIVORS include 7 children, Nancy (Jeff) Kolbe of Muskegon, Caren (Russ) Deaton of Janesville, WI, Ron (Jo) Thompson of Twin Lake, Therese (Jerry) Buday of Muskegon, Carol (Larry) Brezinski of Twin Lake, Rick (Jeanette) Thompson of Grand Haven, Frank (Betsy) Thompson of Muskegon; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Elaine Murar; 1 brother, Steve Murar, and in-laws, Jean & Gerry McKenzie, Bev & Ron Ring, and Chuch & Sherye Beckman. She was also preceded in death by her parents. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, July 22, 2013 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Aaron Ferris presiding. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION will be held 3-6 PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, (231) 798-1100. The Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 PM Sunday. VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the Mass, 10-11 AM Monday.
