Betty Jean Schindlbeck's Obituary
Our mom, Betty Schindlbeck, age 82, of Spring Lake went to be with our dad Glenn Schindlbeck on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 10, 1926, in Aurora, IL, to Leo and Esther (Klundt) Griff, and she married Glenn “Shindy” Schindlbeck on August 15, 1945, in Aurora, IL. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2001.
Betty was a member of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church where she was known as “Sarge” and was a member of the Mary-Sarah Circle. She enjoyed bowling, going to garage sales, playing cards, and camping. She also enjoyed wintering in Texas and was an avid sports fan.
She is lovingly remembered by two daughters, Marlene (Tim) Hall of Nunica and Chris Berry of St. Petersburg, FL; five sons: Dale (Marci) Schindlbeck of Spring Lake, Glenn (Brenda) Schindlbeck of Montague, Orrin (Nancy) Schindlbeck of Nunica, Mike (Judy) Schindlbeck of Spring Lake, and Eric Schindlbeck of Spring Lake; and thirteen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tony Berry.
The service for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jen Porter officiating. Friends may meet the family 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 13, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Interment will be in Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Betty may be made to Spring Lake Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Hospice of North Ottawa.
