Beverly M. Anderson's Obituary
Beverly Marie (Lindstrom) Anderson quietly passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a short battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan to Arnold and Gertrude (Dummer) Lindstrom on March 28, 1935.
Beverly lived all her life in the Muskegon area, along with her parents, an older brother Bob and a younger brother Carl. She attended Muskegon High School, where she excelled in academics, including some college courses, and vocal music during her high school years, graduating in 1953. After working in Muskegon for three years, Beverly married Edward David Anderson, whom she had met eight years earlier the summer she was working for one of Eddie’s older cousins who lived at Pere Marquette Park, taking care of her four young children. One of Bev’s fondest memories was of summer Sundays spent at the beach and Sunday evenings at a movie with Eddie. Bev and Eddie raised their three children, Matthew Edward, Beverly Kay and David Erik, all of whom still reside in the Muskegon area.
Beverly volunteered at Glenside School when her children were students there. She was active in the Muskegon Area Chapter of Questors and worked for many years in the Mercy Hospital Gift Shop. After a stint as a hostess at Breneman’s Restaurant, she joined the staff of Krautheim’s Jewelers as a salesperson and buyer. Retired from Krautheim’s, she volunteered at the Muskegon Food Pantry. She found time to take piano lessons and enjoyed practicing with Ringo the Dachshund curled up beneath the piano bench.
Bev participated in Jackie Sorenson’s Aerobic Dance classes for many years and was the secretary to the JSAD representative in Muskegon. She loved social dancing, as well. She and Eddie participated in ballroom dancing lessons and spent 25 years with fellow dancers at local clubs and with The Town Club group. Bev was also a member of the Linne Lodge of the Vikings, of which her parents were founding members.
Bev enjoyed yearly trips to Traverse City with her daughter, celebrating her August birthday. She traveled twice to Sweden with her father, to Ornskoldsvik (his home town), and got to know her Swedish aunts, uncles and cousins. She accompanied Matt, her daughter-in-law Veronika, and grandchildren Ian-Keith and Simone to Santiago, Chile. Her “familia Chilena” remembers her fondly. Veronika’s brother Cristian and his wife Paulina recall that “Bev was a terrific person, always kind and taking and sharing the best out of life. Paulina and I will always remember how kind she was to us during our time in South Bend,” while Cristian was attending Notre Dame.
Bev made a wonderful home and made everyone feel “at home.”
Bev delighted in her grandchildren. Ian-Keith and Simone were never happier than when they were with Grandma, at Grandma’s house, with rented videos, snacks, and lots of paper, books, and crayons for coloring and drawing. Sunday dinners, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter--- Bev made everything special. She attended their concerts, plays and graduations. Simone was so happy that Grandma could attend her 2021 Wedding.
Bev is survived by her husband Eddie, children Matthew (Veronika), Beverly K., and David (Sharon); grandchildren Ian-Keith (Michael) and Simone (Ryan); her sister-in-law, Diane Lindstrom; and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff at Hillcrest NRC for their loving care of Beverly.
