Beverly Mae "Bev" Goebel's Obituary
Beverly Mae “Bev” Goebel, age 87, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 27, 1937 in Kent City, MI to Harold A. and Edith I. (Stoken) Johnson and lived in the Ravenna area most of her life. On May 26, 1956, she married Alfred E. “Sonny” Goebel at St. Catherine’s Church in Ravenna. Bev first worked as a machinist for Standard Automotive for 17 years. Bev devoted her life to the care of others including her beloved Sonny as she was his sole caregiver for 17 years before his death on June 19, 1989. After his passing, Bev worked in home healthcare as a Certified Nurse Aide for Americare, Inc. and retired in 2012 after 23 years. Her #1 priority was her family and she loved the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bev also enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardens. Survivors include 4 children, Jeany Robinson, Denise (Bill) Bragg, Douglas (Mary) Goebel, Jacque (Bill Kass) Goebel; 10 grandchildren, Bryan (Carrie) Robinson, Brent (Brent Moyer) Robinson, Brad (Keri) Robinson, Brandon Bragg, Dirk Bragg, Samantha (Colin) Donahue, Seth (Audrey) Goebel, Shane (Morgan) Goebel, Trent Goebel, Courtney Goebel; 13 great grandchildren, James Robinson, Steven (Alyssa Korson) Falan, Jennifer (Matthew) Ray, Justin Stuart, Rachel Robinson, Jakob Moyer-Robinson, Jeremiah Moyer-Robinson, Reid Robinson, Lillian Robinson, Elizabeth Robinson, Ryder Murray, Forrest Goebel, Marleigh Donahue; and 2 great-great grandchildren on the way; 1 sister, Karen (Jim) Gerwig; 2 brothers, Ron (Chris) Johnson, Kurt (Linda) Johnson; and 6 sisters-in-law, Patricia (Bob) Wheeler, Sandy Wilburn, Cathy (Jay) Vander Velde, Sue Weinrick, Lea Johnson, and Joan Johnson. Bev was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Goebel; 1 son-in-law, Dave Robinson; her parents, Harold and Edith Johnson; 5 brothers, Harold, Max, Dale, Jim, and Don Johnson; and 3 sisters, Lois Vasilaukas, Shirley Cegelis, and Nina Portenga. In honoring Bev’s wishes, a private family service will be held.
