Beverly A. Straley's Obituary
Mrs. Beverly A. Straley, age 79, passed away Friday, April 8, 2005. She was born March 5, 1926 in Muskegon to Peter and Caroline (Jury) Jager and lived her entire life in the area. On June 25, 1953, she married Robert A. Bovenkerk and he preceded her in death on March 20, 1964. She later married Harold K. Straley on November 26, 1965 and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2000. She was employed at the Norge in Muskegon and retired in 1999 after 42 years of service for the City of Muskegon as the secretary for Leisure Services. She was a long-time member of Lakeside Baptist Church. She made many good friends and remembered most of their birthdays. She corresponded with many of them by e-mail and letters up to the end. She was also active with the City of Muskegon Retirees. SURVIVORS include 6 children, Beth (Gregg) Nash, James Straley, Christine (widow of Michael) Sinkiawic, Bruce (Gale) Straley, Burt (Chris) Straley all of Muskegon, Chari (Tim) Mickelson of West Palm Beach, FL; 19 grandchildren, Robert (Jesse) Nash of Muskegon, Susan (Allen) Smith of Beaufort, SC, Sarah (Dustin) Fox of Muskegon, Scott Nash, Steven Nash both of Muskegon, David (Anna) Nash of Salt Lake City, UT, Timothy Nash, Laci Nash, Elizabeth Nash, Anna Nash all of Muskegon, Jennifer (Darryl) West of Grand Rapids, Renee, Emily, and Audrey Sinkiawic all of Muskegon, Allison and Anthony Straley of Muskegon, Katie Straley of Alaska, Jennifer Neff of Muskegon, Erin Mickelson of West Palm Beach, FL; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Norma DeBoer of Spring Lake, Caroline (Roy) Freeman of Illinois; 1 brother-in-law, Neal Madderom of Tampa, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son, Brian Straley, her parents, 1 sister, Helen Madderom and 1 brother, Preston Jager. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at Lakeside Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. INTERMENT will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION with Beverly’s family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210.
