Bill Gasser's Obituary
Bill “The Gas Man” Gasser, age 53, of Ravenna died Saturday, August 12, 2006, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Muskegon County. Born August 16, 1952, to Albert Allen and Thurzal Ilene (Thomas) Gasser in Wayne County, MI, he married the former Marie J. Ciero on July 25, 1981, in Waterford, MI.
Bill moved to Ravenna six years ago from Waterford and had been a construction safety consultant for the State of Michigan for the past nine years. He formerly worked as a union carpenter foreman for Union Local 687 for 25 years in the Detroit area. Bill was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and boating. Bill loved riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Nunica Nuts Motorcycle Club. He was a member of the Eagles-Aerie 925 in Grand Haven and of the National Rifle Assoc.
Survivors include his wife Marie; two daughters, Tina (Samer) Homisha of Dearborn and Julie Cruse of Waterford; two grandsons, Cameron and Kyle Pankey; his mother Thurzal Ilene Taylor of Grayling; mother-in-law Carmella Ciero of Wickliffe, OH; his sister Ande (Dan) Reed of Roscommon; three brothers, George (Tammy Sue) Gasser of Grayling, Delmar Gasser of Berkley, MI, John (Lisa) Gardiner of Grayling; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his father Albert A. Gasser in May 2000.
The service for Bill will be held at 1:00 p.m., with visitation from 12-Noon until 1:00 p.m., on Thursday at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating.
