Larry Herzhaft Jr.
Thinking back, I can't help but remember the time we lived with Uncle Bob and Aunt Donna.
As a kid, I always wanted to go with Uncle Bob on a fire run. I'd hear his radio come alive with a call, and he'd rush out the door with purpose and concern. I always wished I could go with him.
Then one hot summer day, I was wandering around the yard, bored as usual, when his radio sounded again. He came rushing out the door, looked at me, and said, "You ready to go?"
I couldn't believe it. I was finally going on a fire run with Uncle Bob. We climbed into his red Ford truck, the red flasher on top was flashing, and the siren was blaring. We flew down the road, right through the middle lane, and I couldn't stop smiling. To me, Uncle Bob was a hero, and that ride is a memory I'll treasure for the rest of my life.
Thank you for that unforgettable memory, Uncle Bob.
I'll see you again someday. I know you believed in the salvation offered through the Son of the true and living God, just as I do. Until then, thank you for being such a wonderful uncle and an example I looked up to.
