Boneta "Bonnie" Irene Radakovitz's Obituary
Boneta “Bonnie” Irene Radakovitz, age 82, passed away early Monday, January 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 13, 1942, to Harry and Ilah (Rowen) McCully in Stanton, MI, but has called Muskegon and Whitehall home most of her life. She graduated from Greenville High School (1960) and continued her education at Hackley School of Nursing and received a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University. Nursing was her passion, starting in 1963 as an RN she dedicated 49 years caring and tending to so many in her community. She primarily worked at Muskegon General Hospital specializing in Labor and Delivery and assisted with the delivery of thousands of babies in the Muskegon area, including her own grandchildren. She was a mentor, a patient advocate, a compassionate caregiver and was a lifelong learner. She truly enjoyed her second family and the many friends she made throughout the years in her nursing community. Bonnie was a sports fanatic, she was an avid bowler, but loved watching any and all sports. Football, basketball, golf, you name it, she watched it! She was also a dedicated MSU fan, go Spartys! She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting scarves, hats, blankets and slippers for her family. Bonnie also loved researching her ancestry and once she retired, she followed one of her dreams and visited Ireland so she could connect with her familial roots. Bonnie also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially cows and her cat, Ava. But above all, she loved her family and absolutely adored being a grandma. She loved to talk about how proud she was of her kids and grandchildren. Bonnie will be missed by so many. She is survived by her two children, Mike (Denise) Radakovitz and Shelli (Tagg) Doll; six grandchildren, Bree, Alex, Owen, Siena, Nick, and Hadley; sister, Sherry McCully; brother, Mick (Sherri) McCully; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sharon (Russ) Vest; and sister-in-law, Barb McCully. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February 2, 2024, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 with visitation one-hour prior. Memorial contributions in Bonnie’s honor can be directed to Sparrow Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN). The family would like to thank Sparrow Hospice House of Mid-Michigan (Lansing) for the exceptional care they provided Bonnie. Share memories with the family at http://www.sytsemafh.com.
