Bonnie L. Barrett's Obituary
Bonnie L. Barrett, age 92, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 6, 1928 in Cheboygan, MI to her parents John and Lula (Helfrich) Dohm. Michigan has been home to Bonnie all her life and where she grew her family. She graduated from Muskegon high school, class of 1948. She worked for 37 years in the Muskegon Juvenile Courts where she assisted in running the home for troubled youth. On October 28, 1955, Bonnie married the love of her life, Russell E. Barrett in Indiana. Together they cherished 50 years of love and laughter. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2006. In her spare-time she enjoyed painting, coming up with home remedies and cooking. Her infamous BBQ ribs will truly be missed. She was known for her generous and caring nature and taking care of others. She enjoyed making sure her community was fed and often would make four course meals for the police department and paramedics in record timing. She was a people person and was also the source of great advice for others. Above all things, she loved her family and spending time with those closest to her. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her 4 children, Ronald (Kathleen) Barrett, Deborah Line, Theodore “Ted” (Cindy) Armstrong and Susan (Wayne) Beebe; step-children, Jim (Mary Lou) Barrett and Bob (Vickie) Barrett; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Barrett and stepson, Don Barrett. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 1:30PM at Egelston Township Cemetery, 5762 Evanston Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442.
