Bonnie M. Collis' Obituary
Bonnie M. Collis, age 59, passed away Monday morning, July 3, 2017. She was born March 25, 1958 in Muskegon to Leonard and Vera (Freeman) Barnard. On November 19, 1988, she married Alexander “Joe” Collis in Muskegon. Bonnie had been a registered nurse and home care specialist for many years. She was part of an all-women’s pit crew owned by Permatech Loctite Corp. for the ARCA Racing Circuit. Her pit crew had been featured in Circle Track magazine for their amazing accomplishments. She also enjoyed fishing, volunteering at no-kill shelters, and taking care of birds and dogs. SURVIVORS include her husband, Joe; 2 sons: Todd Collis of North Carolina, Brent Collis of Grand Rapids; grandson, Shayne Collis; parents: Leonard and Vera Barnard; 3 brothers: Jason (Mary) Barnard, Scott (Beth) Barnard, Bruce (Sue) Barnard; sister, Denine Murphy; and several nieces and nephews. Joe and his family would like to thank Bob and Anita Koehler, John and Bonnie Monet, and the many special people in the Twin Lake Community for all their support and help for Bonnie and Joe over the last couple of difficult months. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Heather; and a brother, Patrick Barnard. According to Bonnie’s wishes, there will be no services.
