Bonnie Marie Jensen's Obituary
Bonnie Marie Jensen, age 76, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, peacefully in the presence of her two loving daughters. She was born August 14, 1945 in Bay City, Michigan to Hugh and Margaretha (Johnson) Campbell and lived in the Muskegon area most of her life. Bonnie was a lifelong tennis and golf player, and an avid reader. She loved walking the beach, photography, and documenting family events and genealogy. Bonnie was happiest when spending time with her large family and especially her grandchildren, in whom she took great delight. “Grandma Dune” loved exploring the dunes in her backyard with them, as well as her trips across Lake Michigan on the ferry to visit her Wisconsin grandkids. Bonnie was a sun-worshipper - she loved the beach, especially Lake Michigan and her annual trips to Florida with her sisters. Bonnie was generous and thoughtful, using her crafting skills to create meaningful gifts for family and friends. She loved decorating her Lakeside home to reflect her love of the beach, lighthouses, and her Campbell family heritage. She was very fun loving and couldn’t resist a dance floor, especially when “We Are Family” was playing.
Bonnie graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and was a proud “Tiger”, before earning her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and starting her career as a teacher. After taking years to stay at home with her daughters, she joined her family’s business as the Office Manager for Campbell Grinder/Camtec where she took great pride in the company’s important work engineering machine tools used for precision grinding, including the mirrors for the Hubble Space Telescope that has allowed us to “see into the heavens.”
“You - you alone will have the stars as no one else has them… In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And it will be as if all the stars were laughing when you look at the sky at night. You - only you - will have stars that can laugh.” - excerpted from one of her favorite books, The Little Prince by Antione de Saint-Exupery
Survivors include her daughters Jennifer (Trent) Klairter of Norton Shores and Dana (Mark) Roffers of Madison, Wisconsin; grandchildren Spencer, Evan and Hailey Klairter and Mirabel, Elaina and Lincoln Roffers. She is also survived by her sisters Carla (Robert) Ohse, Carrie (Elton) Aberle, Tina (Dave) Anderson, and Peggy (Craig) Elliott, brother Mike (Dianne) Campbell, sister-in-law Maureen Campbell, many beloved nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Margaretha and beloved brother Norman Campbell.
