Bonnie J. Johnson's Obituary
Bonnie Jean Johnson, age 84, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Bonnie was born in Big Rapids, MI, on March 9, 1940, to Albert Sr. and Doris (Allison) Allers. On October 12, 1957, she married Gerald Johnson, and the two of them spent many wonderful years building their family together until he preceded her in death in 2009. She was a homemaker for most of her life but also enjoyed working at Joann Fabrics for some time after her kids were grown. She was a talented seamstress, whenever anyone needed anything mended she would do it for them. She was very sociable and could start a conversation with anybody. She loved playing cards, especially euchre and pinochle. While she was on the board for the Orchard View Senior Center she ran the weekly euchre tournament. She also loved doing puzzles, working in her yard and garden, and polka and waltz dancing with her husband. She was a longtime member of VFW Post 446, then at Post 7729, serving as a trustee for many years. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family. Bonnie will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Gary (Marleen) Johnson, Lori Johnson, and Richard Johnson; eleven grandchildren: Dayna, Lisa, Derek, Michael, Joshua, Carlene, Tyler, Jessica, Dennis, Jordan, and Kameron; twelve great-grandchildren; four siblings: Virginia Pohler, Maxine Smith, Dale (Kathy) Allers, and Gordon (Joan) Allers; and many other extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Sr. and Doris Allers; husband, Gerald Johnson; seven siblings: Virgil Allers, Albert Allers Jr, Arlene Spedowski, Shirley Norton, Raymond Allers, Frank Allers, and Kenneth Allers; and two infant siblings, Thelma and Harold Allers. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be taking place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444.
