Bonnie Lou Veldboom's Obituary
Bonnie Lou (Van Klompenberg) Veldboom, 79, of Spring Lake, MI, met her Lord and Savior on May 22, 2021.
Bonnie Veldboom was born on August 19, 1941, in Jamestown, MI, to Bert and Berdina (Kuiper) Van Klompenberg. She was a graduate of Hudsonville High School and Calvin College. She obtained an advanced degree from the University of Chicago.
She was united in marriage to Ralph Veldboom on June 16, 1964, at First Christian Reformed of Jamestown. She was a dedicated wife, friend, and mother, and enjoyed working as a teacher for many years.
Bonnie was an active member of churches in South Holland, IL, Lansing, IL, and Grand Haven, MI. She enjoyed her ladies society, leading Coffee Break sessions, and leading a large Stephen Ministries group. She was a dedicated wife who also cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren - watching sporting events, games, and activities. Bonnie was caring, humble, and generous and will be dearly missed.
She was survived by her husband and three daughters: Gayle (Bart) Shumaker of Holland, MI, Nancy (Lawrence) Leete of Spring Lake, MI, and Donna (Michael) Simerly of Fishers, IN, nine grandchildren, Tate and Benjamin Shumaker, Timothy (Mollie) Leete, Rylie (Keir) MacKay, Meghan, and Brady Leete, and Jacob, Josephine, and Sydney Simerly; one sister Diane (Anthony) Blok, three brothers, LaVern Van Klompenberg of Albuquerque, NM; Lyle (Lois) Van Klompenberg of Hudsonville, MI, and Darl (Karon) Van Klompenberg of Grandville, MI and sister-in-laws Marie Van Klompenberg of Dorr, MI and Nancy Boelens of Wyoming, MI and brother-in-law Kenneth Gras of Sun City West, AZ. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by a sister Judith Gras, two brothers Glen Van Klompenberg, Dennis (Faith) Van Klompenberg and sister-in-law Linda Van Klompenberg.
Friends may meet the family on Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 5 – 7 PM at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge St, Spring Lake, MI 49456.
