Brenda Jean Wright's Obituary
Mrs. Brenda Jean Merriweather-Wright departed this life for her heavenly home on April 29, 2023 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born on September 10, 1956 to the union of Oscar L. and Eddie Pearl Merriweather in Muskegon, Michigan. Brenda accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a early age. She was baptized by Rev. J.E. Wicher and united and served at New Mount Zion Baptist Church. Later on she joined Queen Esther Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Greer Jr. She served there faithfully until her health failed. Brenda graduated from Muskegon High School class of 1975 and remained a true Big Reds fan. She worked as a licensed beautician for many years. She later gained employment at Hart and Cooley in Holland, Michigan and worked there until her retirement. She married the love of her life, Mr. George Wright Sr., on June 12, 2009. Brenda enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flower garden. Her greatest enjoyment was working with the Celebration of Life Ministry at Queen Esther to help cancer patients. This ministry was formed by Sister Brenda Wright and Sister Josephine Terrell under the leadership of Pastor Greer 12 years ago. It takes place each year in October. Brenda was there for the last cancer walk in October 2022. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Dwayne (Katina) Watts, Corey Watts, Jeremy (Jauquita) Wright, George (Edtreana) Wright, Jr., Richard Wright, Andre (Felicia) Wright; daughters, Nicole Wright and Tonya (Asa) Featherstone; 24 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Hawkins (D’Juna) Lang Jr.; two sisters, Ann (Anna) Bailey and Wilda (Sam) Hughes; and sister-in-law, Eliza Wright; and special friends, Pat Todd, Josephine Terrell, Beverly Winters, Vanessa Miller, Vanessa Tyler, and Jan Townsend. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Queen Esther Missionary Baptist Church (2220 Superior St., Muskegon Heights, MI 49444.
