Brennan C. Dethloff's Obituary
Brennan Charles Dethloff, age 18, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 18, 2021 after succumbing to injuries sustained in a car accident. He was born September 7, 2002 in Muskegon to Brian and Rona (McDowell) Dethloff. Brennan was a senior at Mona Shores High School and played hockey as a senior defenseman on the Varsity Hockey Team, wearing jersey #22. He loved to play disc golf, hunt, fish, play video games with his buddies, jet ski, go to the beach, and golf. Brennan was a kind soul who would do anything for anyone at any given moment. He loved his people more than anything and if you were lucky enough to be one of those people you were truly blessed. To know him was to love him. SURVIVORS include his parents: Brian and Rona Dethloff; brother, Carter Dethloff; grandparents: Rick and Jan Dethloff; grandma, Marilyn Forton; grandpa, Ron (Sally) McDowell; great-grandma, Donna Forton; aunts and uncles: Kevin (Kristen) Dethloff, Sue (Dave) Lattin, Scott (Sandy) McDowell, Mark (Heidi) McDowell, Amanda Paganelli, and Luke Forton; cousins: Noah, Lauren, and Luke Dethloff, Jake Dethloff and Eli Lattin, Colin and Sydney McDowell, Erin, Ryan, and Marlowe McDowell, and Sloane Forton; his Teammates and many special friends. Brennan was preceded in death by his grandpa, Robert “Bubba” Forton; great-grandparents: Earl Forton, Clarissa Kroeze, and Eva Green. SERVICES for Brennan will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 23, 2021 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken St. Muskegon, MI 49441) with Brian Kingshott officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday, January 22, 2021 at the church. He will be laid to rest in Norton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the “Brennan Dethloff Memorial Scholarship Fund”. Envelopes will be available at the church or you may send your donation to ChoiceOne Bank, 1030 W.
