Brent R. Scanlon's Obituary
Brent R. Scanlon (aka, “Scanman” and “Brentster”), age 29, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015. He was born on December 24, 1985 to Roger and Gayle (Townsend) Scanlon in Muskegon. He was a member of Hope Reformed Church. He graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Medicine. Brent was a big guy, with a big heart. He loved giving to others, especially through his work with veterans at the VA hospital. He was a Red Wings, University of Michigan, and Detroit Lions sports fanatic. He is survived by his parents, Roger and Gayle; brother, Brandon Scanlon; grandma, Gertrude Townsend; grandpa, Robert Scanlon; and close family friend, Ron Pulsifer. The family would like to thank Brent’s many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends for all of their love and support over the years. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Pastor Steven Hyma officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. The family asks that MEMORIALS in Brent’s name be directed to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation. Brent was passionate about helping others and strove for a better understanding of these issues.
