Brian D. Burnside's Obituary
Brian Daniel Burnside, age 55, went to be with his family in heaven on Sunday, August 4, 2013. He put up a good fight but God took his hand and led him home.
He was born in Grand Haven February 15, 1958 to his loving parents Daniel and Donna (Fase) Burnside who preceded him in death. Brian always loved his name because he could B. Daniel Burnside. On May 22, 1993 Brian married Sharon Roossinck and his greatest joy followed when he was blessed with four beautiful daughters. They were the pride and joy of Daddy’s eyes.
Brian attended Spring Lake High School and graduated in 1976. A huge sports enthusiast, he played football, basketball, and ran track. He continued his football career at Eastern Michigan University and Grand Rapids Junior College, making many friends along the way. He always came home on weekends with a car full of friends and they were welcomed as extensions of the Burnside family. Standard pre-game protocol was a steak dinner for the entire team at Mom B’s.
Summers were spent on the family boat “The Wild Ones” at Mackinac Island, returning in time to tie up at the Municipal Marina for the Coast Guard Festival. Winter weekends were spent skiing up north with the family in Cadillac and Boyne. Both traditions were carried on with his own family.
Brian worked in the family business, Burnside Manufacturing, starting in sales and working his way up to Vice President. Upon his father’s retirement in 2000, Brian bought the company and managed it until 2008. At the time of his death, Brian owned and operated Craft Steel.
He loved the water and spending time on his boat “Got Blonde Sided” with his girls. His family was number one in his life. He also enjoyed skiing and sports. His greatest love was following his girls and supporting them in ALL their athletic ventures from basketball and soccer to swimming and track and volleyball. There was always a game to attend and nothing could stop him from being in the stands cheering on his four amazing daughters – no matter where they were.
Brian is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Lindsey Donna, Kerri Jordyn, Courtney Elizabeth, and Kassidy Ann Burnside, all at home. Also surviving him are a brother, Bruce Jacob Burnside; sister, Darcy Burnside Snippe; sister-in-law, Judy Burnside; brother-in-law, Dan (Pam) Roossinck; father- and mother-in-law, David and Ruthann Roossinck. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Nathan (Marie), Anne, Justin, Danielle, and Dawn Burnside, Donna Snippe, Isaiah and Micah Roossinck; his favorite cousin, Pamela (Bob) Veneklasen; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Along with his parents, Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hubert and Anna Burnside and Jacob and Bertha Fase Sr.; his brother, David Hubert Burnside; and a sister, Deborah Ann Burnside.
