Because of athletics, Brian and I got to know each other quite well over the years; first Brian as an athlete and me as a coach in Spring Lake. Then, in later years, Brian's daughter was on the Buccaneer basketball team and I was a radio broadcaster. Because I would come to ball games early and Brian was always there, we would spend quite a bit of time talking about sports and especially the varsity Buccaneers. He was one of the most gentle but tough men I've even known. He had the ability to be both. I, and many, will miss you Brian. Thanks for all you did for people. My sincere sympathies to the entire Burnside family at this most difficult time.
