Brian D. Harken's Obituary
Mr. Brian David Harken, age 36, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. He was born on June 26, 1982 to David Harken and Carole (Douglas) Harken in Muskegon. A lifelong resident of the area, Brian worked in various restaurants around town including Hearthstone Bistro, Hennessy’s Pub and G&L. Brian was a nature lover and spent as much time outdoors as he could. He enjoyed fishing on Muskegon Lake, boating and camping. Brian also enjoyed going to concerts, the casino and spending time with his dog, Marta. He was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan. Brian will be deeply missed by his mother, Carole; father, David (Chris); sister, Jean (Jarod) Reif; step-brother, Jeremy Sturm; brother-in-law, Marc VanderStelt; nephews, Drew and Noah and twins, William and Benjamin; and step-niece and nephew, Kayleigh and Matthew; maternal grandmother, Mildred Douglas; step-grandmother, Pat Picard; aunts and uncles, Rosemary (Lynn) Quartermaine, Donna (Grant) Alm, Robert (Donna) Harken, James (Ann) Harken and Tom (Sophie) Harken; several cousins; and good friend, Greg Weaver. He was preceded in death by his step-sister, Jennifer VanderStelt. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 21 at 3PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 49444, 231-798-1100. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 2-3PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Brian’s name may be directed to Harbor Hospice Foundation or Muskegon Catholic Education Foundation.
