Brian D. Johnson's Obituary
Mr. Brian D. Johnson, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 following a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born on May 20, 1947 to Paul and Charlotte (Hart) Johnson in Muskegon. Brian graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War while stationed overseas until he was Honorably Discharged in 1968. Upon returning to Michigan, Brian started driving truck. He retired from Fleet Engineering after 25 years of dedicated service. On May 30, 1992, Brian married Alice Campbell in a Harley Davidson ceremony and Alice could not have asked for a better husband and best friend. Brian was a life member of VFW Post 3195 and the Lakeside Eagles 3306. He enjoyed riding motorcycles when he was younger and more recently took up camping. Brian and Alice hosted Black Lake County Park in Oceana County for the past four years. Brian will always be remembered by his wife of 31 years, Alice; siblings, Paula (Rich) Siemon of Norton Shores, Mike (Pam) Johnson of Grand Haven, and Connie Barber of Grand Haven; sister and brothers-in-law, Melissa (Tom) Tretheway, Daniel Campbell, David (Stephanie) Campbell, and Doralene Johnson; daughters, Kimberly and Jody; several grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Brian was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Denny Johnson and Tom Johnson; and sister-in-law, Carla Campbell. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 3:00 - 4:00PM, Tuesday, September 26 at VFW Post 3195, 5209 Grand Haven Rd., Norton Shores, MI, 49441, with Military Honors at 3:30PM.
