Mr. Bruce Griswold Cook's Obituary
Mr. Bruce Griswold Cook, age 88, passed away Monday morning, March 12, 2018 at a local nursing home. Bruce was born April 20, 1929 in Muskegon to Ferris E. and Eva W. (Woodbury) Cook. Bruce grew up on a farm in Conklin, graduated from Coopersville High School, and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed at Continental Motors for close to 30 years and also spent time working for Bennett Pump. He was a longtime member of Temple United Methodist Church where he enjoyed many friendships. He was also a 50 year plus member of the Conklin American Legion Post # 537 and marched in the annual Conklin Memorial Day Parade. For most of his life, Bruce enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting, and fishing. He loved trips to the lake, playing Euchre and Cribbage, and being with family. Bruce was a kind gentleman with a good soul; a sweet, sweet man that will be very much missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Pam Young, Pat Young, Mary Ann (Leif) Nelin, Jeff (Kerry) Cook, Mike (Rosanne) Cook, Larry Cook, Steve (Lynne) Cook, Bryan (Dorothy) Cook, Daniel Cook, Carrie June (George) Toth; and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia (Wally) Young; brothers, Ferris (Marjorie) Cook, Jack (June) Cook, and an infant sister, Beverly Jean Cook. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1 PM Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Temple United Methodist Church, 2500 Jefferson St., with Rev. Jeff Bowman officiating and Full Military Rites afforded under the auspices of American Legion Post # 9. VISITATION will be from Noon until 1PM at the church. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Temple United Methodist Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
