Bruce Jolin DeGroot's Obituary
Bruce Jolin DeGroot, age 63, of Grand Haven passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at home. He was born July 10, 1955, in Pipestone, Minnesota to Frank and Dorothy (Overbeek) DeGroot, and married Cynthia Novak on October 3, 2016, in Grand Haven.
Bruce worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative, and was a member of the Town Club Dance Club. He and Cindy competed in ball room dancing, and were awarded three golds, qualifying them for the national competition. Bruce was very musical and was accomplished in playing brass, woodwinds, percussion, and piano. He also loved cars, and built his own Hot-Rod.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cynthia DeGroot of Grand Haven; two step-daughters, Jessie (Jon) Cooper and Nikki (Chad) Mettler; six grandchildren: Josephine, Julia, and Jonny Cooper, Maddie, Sophie, and Emma Mettler; his father, Frank DeGroot; two brothers, Donley (Cheryl) DeGroot and Terry (Cindy) DeGroot. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy DeGroot in 2002.
A memorial dance to celebrate the life of Bruce will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28 from 7-10 p.m. Memorial contributions to Step Up Youth Productions 9254 Four Mile Road N.W., Grand Rapids, MI 49544 are appreciated.
