Bruce Jay Pike's Obituary
Bruce Jay Pike, age 78, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his home. He was born December 2, 1942 in Cadillac, MI to Curtis Earnest and Dorothy Viola (Runyon) Pike. On December 1, 1962, he married Barbara Kay Lee in Mesick, MI. In April 1966, they moved to Muskegon where he lived most of his life and raised 3 kids. Bruce worked 39 years for Meijer, Inc. and retired in 2005 as a receiving clerk. He volunteered as a youth leader at several churches for many years. He attended Anchor Point Bible Church. Bruce and Barb spent 12 years serving with SOWERS – Servants On Wheels Ever Ready and traveled the country helping with Christian camps. Bruce left a lasting footprint of caring for so many. His faith truly was his foundation and he was always helping people in need. Bruce enjoyed woodworking and working in his garage. He has a special listening ear for the youth and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He knew no strangers. Bruce will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends. Survivors include his wife, Barb Pike; 3 children, Dean (Patience) Pike, LaJeanna (Jim) Gloeckner, Dorothy “Dottie” (Eric) Evans; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Larry Pike, Bob (Luella) Pike, Ben (Janice) Pike, Russell Pike; 1 sister, Marie Bates; and several nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Gail Pike and Keith Pike. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Anchor Point Bible Church (635 Seminole Road, Norton Shores). Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Bruce’s memory.
