Captain Bryan Fethke's Obituary
Captain Bryan Fethke, age 50, of Muskegon, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at home on Thursday, June 4, 2026. He was born on April 20, 1976, in Muskegon to Gordon Fethke and Marilyn Drushall Fethke. Bryan graduated from Orchard View High School in 1994. On June 21, 2008, he married the love of his life, Jennifer Janusiewicz, and together they built a life centered on family, love, and service.
Bryan dedicated more than three decades to the Muskegon Township Fire Department, joining the department in 1994 and retiring as Captain on June 1, 2026. Throughout his distinguished career, he was a founding member of the county’s Urban Search and Rescue and Technical Rescue Team. He also served for many years on the executive board of Muskegon Township Professional Fire Fighters Union IAFF Local 4132, including as President. His commitment to protecting and serving others earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow firefighters and the community. Bryan was passionate about training and mentoring new firefighters and instilling firehouse culture and traditions both at MTFD and across all of Muskegon County, spending many years as an instructor at the Muskegon County Fire Academy.
Bryan found great joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting, boating, camping, hiking, and snowboarding. Above all else, however, he treasured time spent with his wife and daughter, Allyson. Whether attending her activities or simply being together as a family, those moments meant the most to him.
Bryan will be remembered for his dedication, strength, loyalty, and love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of almost 18 years, Jennifer; daughter, Allyson; mom, Marilyn Fethke; dad, Gordon (Carol) Fethke; brother, Mark (Leslie) Fethke; nephews, Angus and Nolan; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Janusiewicz; brother-in-law, Jason Janusiewicz; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and fellow firefighters.
