Mr. Bryce L. Hoekenga's Obituary
Mr. Bryce L. Hoekenga, 53, passed away after a brief illness in Kalamazoo. Bryce was born on December 9, 1962 to Lloyd and Ellen (Colsman) Hoekenga in Muskegon, and lived in Grand Rapids and then in Kalamazoo for the past 22 years. He was a writer for the Grand Rapids Press and the Kalamazoo Gazette for many years, and also worked at Menards in Kalamazoo. Bryce is survived by his father and step-mother, Lloyd and Ione; Bradford (April) Hoekenga of St. Louis, Brenda (Craig) DeYoung of Grand Rapids, Beth (Dave) VanRees of Muskegon; Laura (Paul) Bakker of Spring Lake, Donn (Robyn) Meindertsma of Annandale, VA, Elisabeth (Ralph) Smeda, presently living in Japan, Mary (Jerry) Bonnema of Grand Rapids; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Hoekenga in 1979. A memorial service celebrating Bryce's life will be held Friday, August 5, at 3:00 PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S.
