H.F. "Bud" Wynne-Parry's Obituary
Born on December 16, 1924, to Harry F. and Ruth Todd Wynne-Parry, Bud joined his older sister, Betty Mae, in a brownstone duplex in Highland Park, Michigan. Among other accomplishments, Bud was a natural ham on stage, loved to play the drums, enjoyed sports, and was popular in school. Upon graduation from Northwestern High School in Detroit, he joined the Army Air Corps in 1943. He was sent to England to train with the RAF as a radio gunner and was subsequently assigned to a B-17 bomber. Bud was awarded the Purple Heart for his service injuries.
After the war, Bud met Jeanne Minard at Alma College and they were married July 1, 1950 in Jeanne's hometown of Harbor Beach, Michigan. While at Alma he was a member of the Zeta Sigma social fraternity. He eventually graduated from Michigan State College (MSU) in 1951. Bud's first job was with the College Life Insurance Company, which took the couple to Alabama. Their first child, Kim, was born there. After moving back to Michigan, 3 more children, Vicki, Randi, and Todd came along and rounded out the family.
Most of Bud's work was in association management, but eventually, after the move to Spring Lake and a brief posting at the Grand Haven Chamber of Commerce, he settled into a second career as an independent salesman for the Everlasting Embroidery Company. It was the kind of work he loved and he remained with them until he retired at 75. Later he was employed briefly as a starter at SLCC.
Over the years, Bud's interests changed but his enthusiasm never did. Golf, hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, collecting knives and coins, building and riding custom bikes, working on delicate scale models of planes and cars were just some of his varied interests. He was a gifted artist and fancied himself a "cubist."
Paternal pride could not be contained in Bud when speaking of his children. He saw all 4 children go to college, marry, have families and find success. The diversity of his children's lives gave him and Jeanne the opportunity to visit places around the US and around the world that would have been unavailable to them otherwise. Their children may have been geographically distant but the ties that Bud and Jeanne created within the family have kept them all unusually close their whole lives.
Bud leaves behind his cherished and devoted wife of 64 years, Jeanne Emmons (Minard) Wynne-Parry, their four children, Kim Susan Hardy (Edward), Vicki Lee Wynne-Parry, Randi Kay Wynne-Parry and Todd Graham Wynne-Parry. He is survived by 8 grandchildren: Stephanie Jeanne Hardy, Ian Derrick (Kami Marae) Volchoff, Nicole Lee Volchoff, Rachel Wynne Fatzinger, Stuart Dallas Fatzinger, Tara Morgan Wynne-Parry, Conor Todd Wynne-Parry, and Ethan Rhys Wynne-Parry. Also surviving are the children of his late sister and brother-in-law Betty Mae Wynneparry Fisher (Charles): niece Nancy Fisher Matthews, and nephews Tom and David Fisher.
