Dear Marye Jane,

I'm tardy in sending this, but you have been in my thoughts and prayers these past weeks. If this awful virus ever ends and we can get safely back in the pool, there will be a large hole in our group and we'll miss him greatly. Byron was one of the good guys (in spite of the jokes). He was there with that ready smile and that beautiful head of white hair. We had several interests in common, as you well know. I hope you'll call me if you're in need of someone to talk to.

Dear Mary, I happened to see the post on Muskegon Memory Lane about Byron's passing. So sorry for your loss. I hope you remember me from Lumberman's Bank. I often think of the good times we had going to ceramics with Dee W. and Mary S. I am still in touch with Mary. I live in Elkhart IN. I can see from reading other posts that Byron had a very positive impact on the lives of his students. I hope that brings you much comfort. Sending you prayers for peace and strength. I met Byron not very long ago and he quickly left a lasting impression on my life. My dad died suddenly while I was in high school and Byron taught my dad while he was in High School. I was excited for Byron to show me my dad's yearbook photo and tell me more stories about what Muskegon HS was like in the 80s. I'll tell you like I told Byron the last time I saw him, it was a absolute honor and privilege getting to know you Mr. Comin, and being bald myself I hope my winter hat provided you with some warmth. And Mrs. Comin, he gave me some great advice regarding my current housing search and the pros and cons of a HOA thanks to your experience in that department so Thank You! My heart goes out to you and I hope that I live a life as great as your husband did.

Please accept my condolences. Byron and I both played sousaphone in the Cheyenne High School Varsity and Concert bands. Byron was one of the nicest, most caring people I have ever known.

Mary Jane I'm sorry to hear of Byron's passing. I can remember when you guys were here in Cheyenne visiting off and on. This year has been something else. Lost mom on September 1st. The last time I got to see her was in March with everything happening. I remember Byron's joking when we got to see you guys. That is one thing I will always remember of him. Know that I'm thinking of you.

Mr. Byron Comin and Family,
Throughout one's life there are a handful of people who make a significant impact and help guide you on your journey. Byron made that significant impact on my life as a teacher at Muskegon High School. I was a little better than an average student in his Senior Government class, known more as a jock than an academic. But in his class I was able to find a passion for our system of Government and politics. Mr. Comin had a love for his subject matter and he encouraged his students to debate and find their voice. He nominated me for a Social Studies Scholarship that gave me the confidence to pursue a social studies teaching degree. His class helped guide me to a long career of teaching Government and Economics. Thank you Mr. Comin for your dedication to your students and for helping us find our calling.

I’ve always enjoyed time spent with and visiting with Byron while teaching at Muskegon High School. I enjoyed workin with Byron when he was in charge of summer school and always enjoyed our end of summer school and after conferences get togethers and more recently our retired teacher monthly breakfast.
It was a pleasure knowing Byron and my thoughts go out to Marye Jane and Byron’s family and friends.

Byron and I have been good friends since kindergarten at Hebert Grade School in Cheyenne, Wyoming. We lived next door to each other throughout junior high, high school, and college. I will miss my dear friend. My best to Marye Jane. All three of us graduated from Cheyenne Senior High School with the class of 1960
