Byron Eugene Flanders' Obituary
Byron Eugene Flanders age 75 of Coopersville, MI died Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Poppen Hospice Residence surrounded by his loving family.
Byron was born on June 23, 1940 in Ravenna, MI to the late Morris J. and Leona (Wagner) Flanders. He married Joy Ellen (Veeneman) Flanders on December 11, 1965 in Coopersville, MI. He served in the National Guard for many years. He loved anything with a motor, Snowmobiling, Motorcycle, Antique Tractor Pulling, Jet Ski, Fast cars and his Rusty Wallace Driving Experience at Berlin Raceway. He was a Glazier and Farmer for over 40 years. He was a Huge GVSU Football Fan. He also loved his constant truck companion Shadow the Dog. Byron is survived by his wife of 50 years Joy Ellen Flanders of Coopersville. 3 Daughters: Lisa (Terry) Maycroft of Coopersville, Jill (Ed) Vaandering of Allendale and Teresa (Shannon) Miller of Sand Lake. 3 Grandchildren: Bradley, Brooke Maycroft and Shandi Miller. Sister in Law: Trish Flanders of Grand Rapids. 2 nieces, 2 Brothers In-Law: Marc (Diane) Veeneman of Grand Rapids, Glenn (Kathy) Veeneman of Conklin. 1 Sister In-Law: Beth (Bill) Roberts of Allendale also survive.
Funeral Services for Byron E. Flanders will be conducted on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00am at the Church of the Saviour in Coopersville with Pastor Dave Kingma officiating. Burial will be in Ravenna Cemetery.
The family will be at the Throop Funeral Home of Ravenna on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00pm to greet friends and again on Monday at the church 1 hour prior to services.
