I had the great privilege of working with Fran at both the Plainwell and Parchment libraries. She taught me a lot about library accounting! She was already past the typical retirement age when I met her, but her work as a bookkeeper was exemplary and continued to be until the day she did retire.
She also taught me what a can-do attitude can accomplish. She was in her 80's when we converted from a paper to a computerized accounting system. Instead of saying "I can't, I don't know how to use a computer," she didn't bat an eye - just rolled up her sleeves and mastered the computerized system in a very short time. What an amazing lady.
We've all missed her (at both libraries!) since she retired. She always brought a bright smile and a ray of sunshine with her when she came to work. We extend our deepest sympathy to her family and hope that the many, many happy memories Fran left us will sustain you at this sad time.
