Camille Elaine Crapsey's Obituary
Camille Crapsey formerly of Rockford, passed away peacefully on July 3,2023, at Grand Pines Assisted Living Center in Grand Haven MI. Camille was born on June 16, 1939, the oldest of five children to Andrew and Anne Hankiewicz. Preceding her in death was her husband of 39 years Richard Crapsey, parents, grandson, Zachary Crapsey, sisters Marcia Storey and Geraldine Ahern, and in-laws, Joseph (Floris) Kulesza. Leaving to mourn her passing are her children, Chris (Tina) Crapsey, Randy (Tracie) Crapsey, Pam (Michael) Rentschler, Lisa (Chris) Hoekstra and Jeff (Gail) Crapsey, 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren with one more expected in October. Camille is also survived by her brother Mike (Starley) Hankiewicz, sister Diane (Whitey) Piechocki, brother in laws, Jim Ahern, and Steve Storey. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close and dear friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Grand Pines and CareLine Hospice, along with several close friends who have been like extended family to Camille.
Camille graduated from Catholic Central in 1957, Rockford MI became her home for 30 years where she raised her family and was a dedicated in-home childcare giver to many families in the Rockford area that became like family to her. After raising her children, she began her career as a dental assistant at Herremans Orthodontics, after 25 years of service she retired at the age of 79.
Camille lived her life to the fullest and had a way of making friends with anyone she met. No matter where she was, she always had a smile on her face. Her large circle of friends supported her over the years including those from elementary school.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2023, at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Schumaker and Rev. Msgr. Edward Hankiewicz concelebrating. Friends may meet the family on Sunday, July 9, from 1-4 p.m. at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417 where the Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at church.
