Candace Kay Hoekenga-Bonham's Obituary
Candace Kay Hoekenga-Bonham, age 78, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the Compassion Home in Newaygo. She was born July 11, 1945 in Muskegon to Thomas and Betty (Nessen) Hoekenga and lived most of her life in the area. Candace worked 28 years as a computer programmer for AT&T prior to her retirement in 1996. On August 9, 2009, she married Bill Bonham and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2018. She was a member of the former New Heart Community Church. Survivors include her daughter, Lyndsey Zito; 2 brothers, Bruce (Karen) Hoekenga, Clark (Michelle) Hoekenga; 2 sisters, Debra Cassidy and Beth (Ted) Behrendt; and 2 sisters-in-law, Sandy Hoekenga and Anne Hoekenga. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Mark Hoekenga, Craig Hoekenga, and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Cassidy. A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, September 23, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
