Dear Muriel,Tim, Ryan, and Trent,
Our sincere sympathy in the passing of Carl. I remember meeting your family at WMCHS your first day in town. We had Christmas dinner with you at your home that year because both families were alone. Carl always was so appreciative of help with Athletic Director duties. He even gave me a beautiful wooden bowl which I still have. (I remember your story about the bowl, Muriel) May our Heavenly Father comfort you and please know that others are praying for your family.

Carl was a leader in our Athletic Directors organization and respected for his hard work. He will be missed by his former A.D. friends.
Dear Muriel and family, May our heavenly father grant you comfort and peace during this difficult time. I remember many situations in which Carl impressed me. One day on The bus to Pella Christian high school he sang a song by Elvis Presley which had recently come out en Titled “ good luck charm“. He sang all the lyrics correctly for the whole song and as a freshman in high school I was impressed. They were many memories growing up together, but also there was a very difficult experience of losing his dad in the farm accident. May God bless you. Love, Dean Arkema
Muriel and family, we are heartbroken for all of you with the passing of Carl. He was a tremendous man, educator, and friend. We lift all of you up in our prayers. May God comfort you and give you His peace. We love you all.

My sympathies to Muriel and the family. Like Carroll, I have a lot of great " growing up" memories of Carl and all of his brother cousins. Sad memories of the highway patrol picking him up from Area 11 Community College site when his Dad was hurt, to a high-school time when when bucking snowdrifts in a white 55 Ford, we ended up in the ditch on our side. Have 2 or 3 other memories traveling to and from college, some harrowing but all fond. God watched over us. Pray that He will continue to watch over you all and give comfort and healing as you mourn his loss. Special regards to my brother cousin Milo.
Mr. Arkema was a great teacher and friend to a lot of kids at Western Michigan Christian. He will be greatly missed. I’m very sorry for your loss!
