Carl L. Laubach's Obituary
Mr. Carl L. Laubach, age 74, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 in Grand Rapids. He was born on April 22, 1947 in Muskegon to Fermin and Florence Laubach. Carl proudly served his country during the Vietnam War while in the United States Army. He married the former Susan Trowbridge on December 10, 1977 and she survives him. Carl enjoyed fishing with his chihuahua buddy, Bandit, watching sports (especially the Detroit Lion’s), and traveling. Every year, Carl planted corn, cucumbers, potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers with the help of family and enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden. He and Susan liked to winter in Texas to escape the snow and cold. Carl was a member of VFW Post 3256 and enjoyed being around others. Carl is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Carl Prell, Michelle Hilt, Tammy Major, and Robin (Ron) Bazzett; grandchildren, Kaleigh Stel, Britnai Stel, Madison Major, McKenzie Bazzett and Alexis Bazzett; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doris, Thelma and Mary; and good friends, Charlie Morthis and Joel Ortquist. He was preceded in death by his father, Fermin Laubach and mother, Florence (Charles Barnhardt) Laubach-Barnhardt; and brother, Jerry. An Outdoor Funeral Service will be held 2PM, Tuesday, May 25 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, with Military Honors rendered. Burial will follow at Laketon Twp. Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday, May 24 from 6-8PM and one hour prior to the service, from 1-2PM.
