Carl Westbrook Munson's Obituary
Carl Westbrook Munson, Jr., age 85, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at his home in Twin Lake. He was born July 22, 1938 in Cadillac, MI to Carl W. and Ellen Linnea (Sjoberg) Munson, Sr. Carl earned his Bachelor of Finance from Central Michigan University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. Carl worked 39 years as a stockbroker and manager of the Paine-Webber/UBS Muskegon Office and retired in 2002. Carl was also an avid golfer and was the owner of Stonegate Golf Club Community. Carl taught so many life lessons to all who knew him. Some of his many accomplishments in life were many golf records, his long successful career at Paine-Webber/UBS, golfing with Arnold Palmer, navigating the seven women in his life, mentoring many in business, and running the golf course provided him with new challenges in his retirement. Everyone who knew him appreciated his “Carlisms”. We are pretty sure he is drinking pinkies and playing a round of golf, watching over all of us. Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Linda M. Munson; 6 daughters, Dacia (Scott) LeRoux, Shawn (Randy) Norden, Lindsay (Trevor) Jiricek, Debbie Williams (Mark), Becky (John) Weaver, Julie (Steve) Meislahn; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rita Roost and Linda George; and a close cousin, Eric Munson. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Karen McMullin. A Celebration of Life will take place 4-7 PM Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Stonegate Golf Club, 4100 Sweeter Rd, Twin Lake, MI 49457.
