Carl D. Spellman's Obituary
Carl D. Spellman, age 91, passed away Monday, October 21, 2019 at SKLD – Whitehall. He was born April 17, 1928 in Muskegon to Fred and Bessie M. (Richter) Spellman and was a lifelong resident. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War on the USS Missouri. Prior to his retirement in 1992, Carl worked over 40 years as a machinist for Kaydon Corp. He enjoyed hunting deer and small game, fishing, painting and drawing. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the VFW #8846 – Don Rea Post. Survivors include 1 daughter, Victoria Spellman and 1 son, Joseph Spellman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Spellman; his parents; and his brothers and sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Friday, October 25, 2019 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church (1110 Dykstra Road). Interment will follow at Laketon Township Cemetery with Military Honors offered by the Honor Guard of VFW Post #8846. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass, 9-10 AM Friday at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church Memorial Fund or Harbor Hospice Foundation.
