Carl Edwin Zimmer's Obituary
Mr. Carl Edwin Zimmer, age 92, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 in Coopersville, Michigan. He was born in Marne, Michigan on September 27, 1931 to Frederick and Alma (Schoenborn) Zimmer. Carl was a veteran of the United States Army and had been employed by Bissell for over 25 years prior to his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 297 and St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Carl enjoyed woodworking, photography, and making wine. He valued relationships and enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family. On May 14, 1955, Carl married the former Edith Ann Hathaway in Ravenna. Carl is survived by six children, Joe Zimmer, Karen (Dave) Bonter, Eugene (Karen) Zimmer, David Zimmer, Nancy (Adrian) Griffith, and Dan (Tanya) Zimmer; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Zimmer; and sister, Evelyn DeCan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, on August 25, 2023; his parents; and two brothers, John Zimmer and Fred Zimmer Jr. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church (12236 Heights Ravenna Rd, Ravenna, MI 49451) with Fr. Andrew Ayers presiding. Military Honors will be performed by the Ravenna American Legion Post 297 Honor Guard. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service at the church.
